Using the Eco-Materials Database

For manufacturers/suppliers of construction materials…

Step One: Visit the CD2E website (www.cd2e.com) and click the “Find a Eco-Material” link.
Step Two: Subscribe to the publication service (click Subscribe)
• Complete the subscription form, download the Service Agreement document, sign it and return it by post toCD2E.
• Enclose a cheque for €280 made payable to CD2E to cover the analysis costs of the first material to be published.
• Once your Service Agreement and cheque have been received by CD2E we will contact you to confirm your subscription and to advise you of your username and password.
Step Three: Submit a product for publication
• Log in to “My CD2E” using your Username and Password as provided.
• Select “Submit a Material”
• Select the classification for your material (e.g. classification by nature of the material, product family etc)

• Provide technical and commercial information via the online questionnaire then download the environmental questionnaire which should be returned once complete to Alex Wignacourt, specialist consultant and Eco-Materials Database Manager via email a.wignacourt@cd2e.com or via the post.  Download an example of the environmental questionnaire (PDF format).
• Finally click the “Confirm request for publication” button.  A confirmation message will appear and your request will be submitted.

Important Note
The analysis process will not be started until the following items have been received by CD2E:
• The signed Service Agreement – only signed originals can be accepted
• A cheque for €280 per material submitted for publication (or €350 for a full range)
• The environmental questionnaire (either via post or email)

Step Four: Subscription Management, Publications and Modifications
Suppliers can manage their subscription details, requests for publication and published information online by logging in to the “My CD2E” section of the CD2E website.  Once logged in, click the “Eco-Materials: Requests” link on the left hand side of the screen.

Alterations can be made to published information at the request of suppliers.  Should the alterations be considered minor, they will be carried out at no extra expense, however should the alterations be more significant and require significant re-work or analysis, this will be chargeable.

Note
A product’s publication as an Eco-Material is valid for two years from the date of publication online.  One month before the expiry of the publication, suppliers will be sent an automatic reminder email.

I wish to source an Eco-Material…

Step One: Log on to the CD2E website (www.cd2e.com) and click “Find an Eco-Material”.

Step Two: Click on “Find and Eco-Material” or “Search for an Eco-Material” and search for it :
• Simple Search by trade – foundations, structures, masonry, facades, walls etc
• Advanced Search – trade, use, product families, brands, suppliers etc

In Advanced Search mode, it is also possible to include environmental and other criteria in your search including:
• Presence of a Life-cycle Analysis
• Water efficiency rating
• Place of manufacture
• Low Impact Construction rating
• Product Family

Alternatively, you can also search by product name.

=> Search Results: the results will be returned giving details of their use, product family, trade etc.

Step Three: Click on the name of the material to view the technical and environmental information for the product, along with data on distributors, applications, examples of use an locations of example sites etc.
